TikFinity Alerts and Text-to-Speech: Sounds, Voices and Volumes
Alerts and text-to-speech are the two features most people install TikFinity for. They are also the two features that can ruin a live fastest if you set them loud, long and loose. Get them right and your viewers feel heard. Get them wrong and your live sounds like a noisy arcade that nobody can talk over.
How gift alerts work
You map a sound to a gift or action. When a viewer sends that gift during your TikTok LIVE, TikFinity plays the sound through your alert widget, which you add as a browser source in TikTok LIVE Studio or Streamlabs. No OBS needed.
Start with your three most common gifts. Give each a different short sound so regulars learn them by ear. A tiny ding for a small gift. Something bigger for a gift people save up for. When viewers can hear the difference, big gifts feel big without you having to shout about it.
Picking sounds that do not annoy people
Keep most alerts under three seconds. Avoid sounds with speech in them, because they clash with your own voice and with text-to-speech. Avoid anything with a sharp start at full volume. Your ears adapt during a long live. Your viewers' ears do not, they just joined.
Test at phone volume. Most TikTok LIVE viewing happens on phones, often in quiet rooms. Play yesterday's test recording back on your phone in the kitchen. If you flinch, turn it down.
On the Android free plan you get 3 sound alerts. Treat that as a feature, not a limit, at first. Three well-chosen alerts beat fifteen random ones. If you need the full setup flow first, start with our TikFinity setup guide and come back here for the fine tuning.
Setting up text-to-speech
TTS reads chat messages out loud. TikFinity offers different voices, with premium and character voices on paid plans. Pick one clear voice and stick with it for a while. Constant voice switching sounds messy and makes it hard for regulars to follow who said what.
Set the volume below your own voice. The voice is a helper, not a second host. If viewers have to choose between hearing you and hearing the robot, they should hear you every time.
Think about length too. Long messages read in full can stall your live for 30 seconds. If your version lets you limit which messages get read, use it. Short, real chat keeps the energy up.
Managing spam and bad messages
Any live with open TTS will attract one person testing it with junk. Plan for that person before they arrive. Use the moderation and filtering controls available in your version, keep TikTok's own chat controls handy, and do not read out anything yourself that the voice should not have said.
Points and chat games help here too. When viewers have a real game to play and points to earn, chat has a purpose. Spam stands out more, gets ignored faster, and your regulars often shut it down for you. The homepage explains how points, games and goals fit together in the full TikFinity feature overview.
Balancing alerts, TTS and goals together
Picture a busy minute: a gift lands, TTS is mid-sentence, and your goal bar fills. If all three shout at once, viewers hear mush. Give each job its own lane. Alerts are short and musical. TTS is calm and lower. Goal celebrations are visual first, with sound only for the completed goal, not every small step.
That balance is the difference between a live that feels alive and one that feels chaotic. Record a busy test, listen back, and adjust one volume at a time.
Free limits and when Pro helps
On mobile free, you get 3 sound alerts and 75 TTS messages a day. A quiet test live fits inside that easily. A busy community live burns 75 spoken messages fast, sometimes in the first hour.
Pro lifts those caps and adds premium overlays and voices. If character voices are the reason your viewers send gifts, Pro pays for itself in fun. If nobody reacts to TTS in your free tests, Pro voices will not fix that. Test first, then read our free vs Pro breakdown with your own numbers in mind.
A simple starting setup
Use this as your week-one setup: one alert for your most common gift, one for your biggest gift, one spare alert, TTS on at low volume with a clear standard voice, and one likes goal bar with no sound until it completes. Run three lives like that.
Then change one thing. Maybe a new voice. Maybe an alert for shares. Changing one thing at a time tells you what your viewers actually like, and that is the whole point of alerts in the first place. When you are ready to install or reinstall, use only the official sources on our download page.
